Route description

Eleven years on the text

I studied German studies and journalism at the University of Salzburg and then worked as a freelance journalist: reportage, profiles, service pieces.

Later I was editor-in-chief of a lifestyle magazine in Salzburg. There I edited restaurant reviews, walking guides and city stories, and learned that the same rules apply to all of them: be accurate, be clear, take the reader seriously.

For the last five years I have been Senior Editor at Casino.at, responsible for German-language content about the Austrian market: from the structure of a guide to the last comma.

Signposts

Four subjects I know my way around.

  • Editorial management and copy editing

Structure, style and corrections, from the first draft to publication.

  • Austria's online casino market

What applies to players in Austria, properly researched and explained.

  • Lifestyle and consumer journalism

Service writing that is genuinely useful to readers.

  • German-language content standards

Consistent language, clean sources and clear rules for a whole team.

At the weekend

Above 1,000 metres, then a beer

Most weekends I am in the mountains around Salzburg, somewhere above 1,000 metres, with a map I do not need and a plan I stick to.

At the end of every walk there is a craft beer from the region. Both taught me the same thing as editing: good routes are well marked.
